Gautam Gambhir, the new head coach of the Indian cricket team, has started showing a tough attitude as soon as he assumed his post. Gambhir, who is known for his outspoken and blunt style, has given a clear message to all the stars of the T20 team – “Prove it or be ready to go out.” He has said that the basis for selecting the team for the T20 World Cup will not be just the IPL performance, but the fearless attitude shown while playing for the country.

Speaking at an event, Gambhir said that he has very little time to prepare the T20 team, but his aim is very clear. He has given a ‘deadline’ of three months to all the players of the team, both senior and young.

What did Gautam Gambhir say?

Explaining his point, Gambhir said, “Look, we don’t have much time. We have to choose our best team in about three months. In these three months, my focus will be on making every player feel safe in his place, so that they can play freely without any fear.”

But along with this he also added his strict warning. Gambhir said, “Yes, I must say that I will support you completely, but in the end if you do not perform then someone else from the team will take your place. I stand behind you, but you have to perform for me and for the country.”

IPL performance is not the measure, fearlessness is the measure.

Gambhir said a very big thing regarding the selection of T20 team. He made it clear that he will not judge players on the basis of their IPL performance. He believes that T20 cricket is a game of aggression and fearlessness.
He said, “I want 15 players who fearlessly want to win matches for India and not just score 50 runs in 60 balls to save their place. The doors of the team are open to everyone, but only those who play with this fearless attitude will survive here.”

This statement is a direct warning to all those senior and young players who want to make their place in the T20 World Cup squad. It is clear that under the coaching of Gautam Gambhir, there will be no room for comfort in Team India, here only ‘performance’ will speak.
