News India Live, Digital Desk: In today’s fast-paced life, we often jump red lights or become victims of overspeeding. We think that the maximum that will happen is that only one challan will be issued! But wait, the government is now going to change this thinking. Now you will not be saved from being chased just by paying money, but your right to sit on the driving seat can also be taken away.
What is the new formula of ‘5 mistakes’?
If reports are to be believed, the central government is going to bring a strict policy. Under this, if any driver is found violating serious traffic rules 5 times within a year (i.e. 12 months), he can be stopped from driving. The government’s aim is to crack down on ‘habitual criminals’ who repeatedly break the rules and put the lives of others in danger.
On which mistakes can the blame fall?
Now the question arises whether the license will be canceled for every small mistake? No, this rule applies specifically to serious crimes, such as:
- Driving too fast (over-speeding).
- Jumping red light.
- Use of mobile phone while driving.
- Drunk Driving.
- Overtaking in the wrong direction or in a dangerous manner.
No fine, direct attack on license!
Till now, what used to happen was that people used to pay challan online and repeated the same mistakes. But after the new rule your record will be tracked in the database. As soon as the 5th big challan is issued in your name within a year, the system will be alerted and your driving license can be suspended or cancelled.
Why is the government doing this?
If seen, the number of road accidents is continuously increasing in India. Most of these accidents happen only because someone is breaking the rules. The government believes that only when people have the fear of losing their license will they drive on the roads with discipline.
Overall, the point is that now your behavior on the road will decide whether you will be able to drive next year or not. So just follow the rules and stay safe!
