There is a big good news for the people of Lucknow, especially for those who travel by train and metro daily. A spectacular skywalk connecting Badshahnagar railway station and metro station has got the green signal. Now you will not have to get off the train, get on the road, fight traffic and stand in line again to catch the metro.
This skywalk, to be built at a cost of about Rs 6.3 crore, will be ready within the next one year. Railways has sent its map to the Metro Department and its construction work is expected to start soon.
How will passengers get the benefit?
Railway station and metro station are exactly opposite to each other in Badshahnagar. Till now people had to cross the road to go from one station to another, which consumed a lot of time and inconvenience. But this will not happen now.
- 100 meter long skywalk: This skywalk will be 100 meters long and 5 meters wide, due to which people will not have any problem in walking.
- Train tickets will be available only at Skywalk: The most wonderful facility is that passengers coming by metro will be able to buy train tickets from the ticket counter located at Skywalk only. This will save them from standing in long queues at the station.
- Lift and escalator facilities: After alighting from the skywalk, passengers will easily reach the platform directly using the lift or escalator.
This project is targeted to be completed by November 2026.
Skywalk trend is now increasing in Lucknow
Let us tell you that this is not the first skywalk of Lucknow. Earlier, a skywalk has already been built connecting Lucknow Junction (NER) to Durgapuri Metro Station, which is used by thousands of people daily.
Apart from this, work is also underway to build a similar skywalk to connect Charbagh Railway Station to Charbagh Metro Station.
This step will prove to be another major milestone towards making Lucknow a smart and modern city, making the journey of millions of passengers easier, safer and more comfortable than ever before.
