News India Live, Digital Desk: If you are a tourist vehicle operator or do business with vehicles having All India Permit, then this news is very important for you. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has made a major amendment in the rules making it mandatory for every vehicle registered under All India Tourist Permit (AITP) to at least once every two months Will have to return to his original state (where he is registered).
Why was this big decision taken?
It had come to the notice of the government that many tourist vehicles, after being registered in one state, keep plying in other states for months. This was violating local taxes and rules.
Preventing tax evasion: Due to cheap registration in some states, people register their vehicles there and do business in other expensive tax states.
Tracking and Security: With this rule, tracking the location of vehicles and their fitness will become easier.
Highlights of the New Testament:
60 days time limit: The vehicle must enter the border of its home state within a maximum of 60 days.
Digital Tracking: The movement of vehicles will be monitored through FASTag and GPS to ensure that the rules are followed.
Threat of permit cancellation: If a vehicle does not return to its state within the stipulated time limit, its ‘All India Permit’ can be canceled and heavy fine can also be imposed.
What will be the impact on tourist operators?
This rule may prove difficult for operators who run long distance tours or lease vehicles in other states. They will now have to spend extra fuel and time to recall the vehicle every two months. However, the government believes that this will bring transparency in the transport sector and strengthen the spirit of ‘One Nation, One Tax’.
What will change for common passengers?
This will not have a direct impact on common passengers, but those booking a vehicle for a long period will now have to keep in mind the permit time limit and the home state of the vehicle.
