Uttar Pradesh is soon going to get the gift of another magnificent expressway, which will further improve the picture of modern transportation in the state. 99% work of this much awaited expressway being built between Lucknow and Kanpur has been completed and now just waiting for the green signal, after which vehicles will be seen running on it at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

It is expected that Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway will be opened to the general public after December 15.

Now it’s not a game of hours, but of minutes

This new expressway is about 63 kilometers long and its biggest advantage is time saving. While currently it takes two hours or more to reach Kanpur from Lucknow, after the opening of this expressway, this distance can be covered in just 70 minutes. This expressway will also reduce the heavy traffic burden on the existing Lucknow-Kanpur highway to a great extent.

What is special on this expressway?

According to NHAI officials, it has been designed as per international standards and special attention has been paid to safety and convenience.

  • Speed: The speed of vehicles on this has been fixed at 120 km/hour.
  • Modern Technology: Digital signboards, modern surveillance systems, and speed monitoring cameras have been installed throughout the expressway.
  • Safety: To make the journey safe, there are strong fencing on the sides, overpasses and underpasses at various places, and reflective markings for clear visibility at night.

From where to where will this expressway go?

This expressway starts from Sarojini Nagar in Lucknow and goes to Shuklaganj via Unnao district. Its route has been designed in such a way that it bypasses the congested areas of both the cities and easily connects industrial, educational and residential areas.

Not just a road, a new artery of development

The NHAI team has also completed trial runs on it and everything from the strength of the road to drainage and lighting has been checked. According to officials, the road is now completely ready for travel.

This expressway will prove to be not just a road, but the ‘economic heartbeat’ of Central Uttar Pradesh. Its main objective is to promote trade, tourism and investment. Later, there is a plan to connect it with Ganga Expressway, which will make the movement of goods and passengers between many parts of the state even easier.
