Tech veteran Apple has set a new record. The company has manufactured an iPhone worth $ 22 billion or Rs 1.83 lakh crore in India in the last 12 months. Therefore, now not China, but India is on the way to become Apple Hub. This price of the iPhone is about 60 percent more than the previous year. It has also been reported that today 20 percent iPhone, or one in every five iPhone, is being manufactured in South Asian countries.
The company is moving from China to India.
This shows that Apple and its suppliers are now transferring from China to India. Amid the increasing threat of trade war, Apple is insisting on setting up its manufacturing units outside China. This is because America’s mutual tax on China is 145 percent, while India is 26 percent. It is being said that due to Trump’s tariff policy, the export of iPhone to America has increased from India. Apple shifted production from China to India after the operation of some factories was affected by the ‘Zero Covid Policy’. After this, preparations have started to make India a new Apple hub.
How many billion dollars worth of iPhones were exported?
Most of the iPhones manufactured in India are assembled in the Foxconn Technology Group factory in South India. Apple’s leading suppliers in India are Foxconn, Wistron, Pagtron and Tata Electronics. The country’s Technology Minister said on 8 April that Apple exported iPhone worth Rs 1.5 trillion ($ 17.4 billion) of India’s total production in the financial year ended March 2025.
Apple now assembles its entire iPhone range in India, including the Titanium Pro model. Apple iPhone-making Foxconn and Dixon Technologies in India have received subsidy under the government’s PLI (Production-Linked Incentive) scheme to promote electronics manufacturing in India and attract foreign investment.
Apple has started manufacturing all its iPhone models in India. The government is promoting the production of chips and other electronic parts along with new $ 2.7 billion schemes. Apple accounts for about 8 percent in the smartphone market in India and in FY 24, Apple sales was around $ 8 billion. This includes most iPhones. This production is at the Tamil Nadu -based Foxconn plant. Apart from this, Tata Group is also playing an important role in making iPhone.
Some time ago, speaking about mutual tariffs, President Donald Trump said that he wants companies like Apple to manufacture their products only in the United States. Why is the iPhone made only in China and now why are they looking towards India? Apple CEO Tim Cook responded in 2024. A video is currently going viral on social media, in which he is explaining why Apple makes its products in China.
Many experts, industry leaders and critics say that it is not so easy to produce massive in the United States. Describing China as the first choice, in his 55 -second video, Tim Cook has clearly stated that companies go to China for cheap labor. But the truth is that China is no longer a country of cheap labor. The real reason is that a large number of skilled people are available at the same place in China.
