Now only it is mandatory to put on windshield, double toll and blacklisting threat to imposing wrong

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued new guidelines for fastag users. Now only the front windshield (inward) has been authorized to put a fastag on the vehicle. If the fastag is found to be installed in the wrong place, the vehicle owner will have to pay double toll fee, as well as the risk of blacklisting.

The main things of the new rules:

• Fastag should only be applied on the windshield from inside the vehicle.

• The vehicle will not be able to take advantage of the electronic toll collection (ETC) facility on installing the wrong place.

• The windshield will be monitored with the CCTV cameras installed on the toll plaza.

• If the fastg is not the right place, the toll fees will be doubled.

• Vehicles and users can also be blacklisted if needed.

NHAI has given instructions on all toll plazas that:

• In the event of the fastags not being installed properly, people will have to double toll fees.

• The position of the fastag on the windshield will be verified through CCTV recording.

• All users will be informed under SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).

Instructions also to banks and pos agents

• Banks and Point of Sale (POS) agents issue fastags have also been instructed to inform the customers to stick the fastags from inside the windshield.

• This will lead to scanning quickly and easily on the toll plaza, so that other vehicles will not have to wait unnecessarily.

Why this rule was brought?

• Putting the wrong place is delayed by scanning.

• This creates long queues and jams on the toll plaza.

• Putting a fastag at the right place will improve traffic flows and will save the time of passengers.
