Now the hassle of carrying bedsheets and pillows from home is over! Railways started this wonderful facility for sleeper class.

If you also often travel in sleeper class of the train, then this news will bring a smile on your face. Giving a big gift to the passengers, Indian Railways has announced to start the facility of providing bedroll, i.e. bedsheet, pillow and pillow cover in non-AC sleeper coaches also. Till now this facility was available only to AC coach passengers, but now lakhs of people traveling in sleeper class, especially those traveling long distances, will get great relief.

Now there will be no need to carry heavy bedding with you during winter and monsoon season.

How much will it cost? (very minor)

Railways has kept the rates for this facility very reasonable:

• Complete Set (1 Bedsheet + Pillow + Pillow Cover): only ₹50
• Bedsheet only: only ₹20
• Just pillow and pillow cover: only ₹30

When and in which trains will this service start?

This facility will be available in the new year 1 January 2026 Will be started from. In the first phase, it will be implemented in 10 major express trains of Southern Railway, which include:

1. Chennai-Mettupalayam Nilgiri Superfast Express
2. Chennai-Mangaluru Superfast Express
3. Chennai Egmore-Mannargudi Express
4. Chennai Egmore-Tiruchendur Superfast Express
5. Chennai-Palakkad Express
6. Chennai Egmore-Sengottai Silambu Superfast Express
7. Tambaram-Nagercoil Superfast Express
8. Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram Superfast Express
9. Chennai-Alleppey Superfast Express
10. Chennai Egmore-Mangaluru Express

Tried it first, people liked it very much

Let us tell you that this scheme has not been brought suddenly. Railways had earlier tried it as a pilot project, which received an excellent response from the passengers. After this success, it has now been decided to implement it permanently.

There is no need to worry about cleanliness. Railways has given the entire work of purchasing bedrolls, machine washing, packing and distributing them to a contractor, so that you always get clean and good quality beds.

While this step will provide comfort to the passengers, the Railways will also get some additional revenue. People are also praising this decision of Railways on social media and are calling it “a small step, but a big relief”.
