Changes in EPF Rules: The central government is preparing to make historical changes in the rules of Employees Provident Fund EPF. If this proposal is applied, now the EPF account holders will be able to withdraw a large part of their deposit or full amount every 10 years. That is, there will be no need to wait till retirement. According to reports, the government is seriously considering this proposal of Employees Provident Fund Organization EPFO so that the working people get the freedom to use their hard earned money according to their needs.

What are the rules of EPF withdrawal

At present, there are only two main methods of withdrawing the entire amount from EPF, the first rule is when you retire i.e. at the age of 58. The second rule is that you can withdraw the entire amount only when you are unemployed for more than two months. In addition, partial withdrawal is allowed for certain needs such as buying, treatment, marriage or children’s education, but the new proposal may remove strictness, which will give more flexibility to the employees.

Youth will get big relief

If this rule comes into force, people will be able to withdraw their EPF amount even at the age of 30 or 40 years. However, a government official said that the government can fix up to 60% withdrawal limit instead of the entire amount. This proposal is still under consideration. This directly means that young employees will be able to use these money for their needs like buying a house or starting a business, which will be a big relief for them.

Government intends to make it easier to use money

According to a government official, the main objective of relaxing EPF rules for a short time is to give account holders freedom to use their money easily. This new proposal of withdrawal is also a part of this thinking every 10 years. The government wants people to use their hard earned money according to their needs so that their economic freedom will increase.

Other recent changes

From July 2025, account holders will be able to withdraw up to 90% of their EPF amount to build a house or buy land. Earlier it was necessary for this for 5 years, which has now been reduced to 3 years. Apart from this, the limit of auto-settlement has also been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. This will enable emergency amount to be available quickly.
