Temple Built in West Bengal: The Odisha government has objected to the name of the temple built by the Mamta government in Digha, West Bengal. The Odisha government says that Jagannath Temple at Puri is an ancient place of worship and has mythological significance. According to Sanatan’s religious beliefs, it is one of the four dhams. In such a situation, it is wrong to call the newly constructed temple of the Bengal government as Jagannath Dham.

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister raised questions

The Odisha government has directed to investigate the contradictory statements of Ramakrishna Dashamahapatra, senior demon of the Puri Jagannath temple. Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Dev and Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said on the temple dispute in Digha, “There is no problem about the Jagannath temple established there, but it cannot be called Jagannath Dham.” Jagannath Dham of Puri is associated with the works of Lord Krishna. During the Dwapara Yuga, Lord Krishna, his elder brother Balarama and sister Subhadra lived here. The four Sanatan Dham – Badrinath, Dwarka, Rameswaram and Puri have a Shankaracharya Peeth. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should consider this and change the name of the temple.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi is also considering the entire matter. Necessary steps will be taken by the Government of Odisha as per the sentiments of the people.

Action will be taken against the culprits.

Law Minister Prithviraj said, ‘The discussion of the servants of the Puri Jagannath temple participating in the prestige festival of the Digha temple and making the idol from the remaining wood of Navaklevar period is completely unacceptable. This kind of discussion is hurting the sentiments of Jagannath lovers, devotees and 4.5 crore people of Odisha. I have written a letter to Arvind Padhi, the chief administrator of Puri Jagannath Temple for investigation. If any guilty is found in the investigation, action will be taken against him.
