News India Live, Digital Desk: We all love seeing sixes and fours on the cricket field, but sometimes the real ‘game’ goes on inside the board room. For the last few days, the market of news regarding Bangladesh cricket is very hot. The discussion was that ICC has given some strict warning or ‘ultimatum’ to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It was being said that ICC is not happy with the current situation in the country and the ongoing changes in the cricket board and that is why they have used the baton.

But now there has been a new twist in this whole matter. Bangladesh Cricket Board has rejected all these claims outright.

What is this whole matter?
The truth is that ever since the coup took place in Bangladesh and the command of the board came into the hands of the new chairman Farooq Ahmed, many questions were being raised about the board. It was reported that ICC has expressed objection regarding the functioning of the board. But a senior BCB official clarified that we have not received any threat from the ICC, rather we have ourselves requested a specific time frame (window) from them so that we can organize our internal things.

Did things get worse while talking?
If we look at it, it is very important for any cricket board to protect its image. Bangladesh Cricket Board says that their talks are going on with ICC and this is only a part of routine procedures. It would be wrong to call it an ‘ultimatum’. The board is currently facing pressure regarding the security situation in the country and the hosting of upcoming big tournaments, because recently the Women’s T20 World Cup had to be shifted from Bangladesh to UAE.

What will happen next?
Cricket experts believe that this is a very critical time for the board. On one hand, the performance of the players is going up and down, while on the other hand, it is a challenge to win the trust of big institutions like ICC. If the board does not address ICC’s concerns at the right time, then difficulties regarding hosting may increase in future.

At present, the Bangladeshi board has made it clear that they are not among those who are afraid and are trying to control the situation. The only hope for cricket lovers is that this administrative fight gets resolved soon and the game returns to the field.
