News India Live, Digital Desk: Muzaffarpur Gaighat Death Controversy: The death of a youth in Gaighat area of Muzaffarpur has created a political uproar. On one hand, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President Chirag Paswan is calling it a ‘political murder’ committed out of direct election rivalry, while on the other hand the district administration is clearly denying any political angle. The round of allegations and counter-allegations regarding this incident has intensified, due to which this death has become a big mystery.

What is the whole matter?

The body of 22-year-old youth Raja Kumar, resident of Gaighat police station area, was recently found under suspicious circumstances. Raja is said to be an active worker of Chirag Paswan’s party. There is an atmosphere of tension in the area since the dead body was found. Chirag Paswan immediately opened a front on this matter and claimed that Raja was murdered due to electoral rivalry, as he was working for his party.

Chirag Paswan’s sensational allegation

Chirag Paswan has termed this incident as murder of democracy. He alleged that his worker was killed just because he was supporting his party in the elections. He wrote on social media, “My worker Raja has been murdered…under pressure from the government, the administration has engaged in a cover-up.” Chirag also warned that if the administration did not work properly then they would take to the streets and agitate. He also came to meet the victim’s family and assured them of all possible help.

What is the district administration saying?

At the same time, Muzaffarpur District Magistrate (DM) Subrata Kumar Sen has completely rejected all the allegations of Chirag Paswan. He told the media that based on the initial investigation and post-mortem report, the case does not appear to be murder.

  • DM claims: The DM said that in the post-mortem report, no external or internal injury marks were found on the body of the deceased. The cause of death is not clear, so the viscera has been sent to the forensic lab for examination.
  • Angle of ‘mutual rivalry’: The administration says that this matter may be related to some old personal dispute between two youths, it has nothing to do with politics or elections. He said that the police have also detained one person in the case and the investigation is ongoing.

What is the truth?

On one hand, the president of a national party is calling it a ‘political murder’, while on the other hand, the highest administrative officer of the district is denying the political angle by calling it a case of ‘mutual rivalry’. The truth of Raja Kumar’s death has become confused between these two different claims. Now all eyes are on the viscera report, which will perhaps make it clear whether this death was a tragic accident, the result of mutual rivalry, or as Chirag Paswan is alleging – a well-planned political conspiracy.
