Owners reached High Court against the order to run bulldozers on hotels of Mandarmani

Kolkata, 20 November (HS). Hotel owners have approached the Calcutta High Court against the order to demolish illegal hotels in Mandarmani, West Bengal. Hotel owners claim that their hotels have been established with all the permissions of the administration and it is unfair to declare them illegal.

On the instructions of the National Environment Court, East Medinipur District Administration has issued a notice to demolish hundreds of hotels built illegally along the beach of Mandarmani by November 20. It is alleged that these hotels have made their entertainment places by enclosing the beach area with walls.

On Wednesday, hotel owners filed a petition in the High Court and presented their problems. He says that many families depend on the income from our hotels. Before starting the hotel, we had taken all the necessary approvals from the administration. Now it is wrong to declare them illegal.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed disagreement with this order and said that bulldozing is not the way to the solution. Bulldozers should not be used under any circumstances. He has directed the state Chief Secretary to hold a meeting with hotel owners on this matter.

It has now become a matter of striking a balance between hotel owners and environmental protection. Hotel owners claim they have been declared illegal despite having permission, while the administration has insisted on following environmental rules. Now the resolution of this dispute depends on the decision of the High Court, which will decide what will be the future of Mandarmani’s hotel industry.
