The online enrollment process for Padma Awards, one of the country’s highest civilian honors, has started. This process has started from March 15, 2025 and interested citizens can send their nominations by July 31, 2025. These nominations and recommendations will be accepted online on the National Award portal (https://awards.gov.in). The Padma Awards include Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. These awards were initiated in 1954 and are announced every year on Republic Day. These awards are given for extraordinary and outstanding achievements in various fields such as art, literature, education, sports, medicine, social service, science, engineering, public service, civil service, trade and industry.
Any Indian citizen, whether his caste, profession, position or gender is anything. This award is entitled. There are some definite criteria for eligibility for this award, which is important to review. Except for doctors and scientists, government employees including public sector employees are not eligible for it.
The government is trying to make the Padma Awards ‘Padma’. Therefore, citizens are urged to make recommendations for eligible persons other than themselves.
