Pakistan Crisis: Another very bad news has come for Pakistan which is struggling with financial crisis. This blow was not given by any enemy country, but by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which is considered its friend. The matter is of visa.
The news is that UAE has almost stopped giving visas to ordinary Pakistani citizens. This is not a rumour, rather a senior official of Pakistan’s Home Ministry himself has confessed this in front of a committee of Parliament. He also admitted in hushed tones that Pakistan was left with a “passport ban” which, if imposed, would have been impossible to remove.
Let us understand in simple language what is the whole matter and why difficulties have increased for Pakistani citizens.
1. Common man’s anger, officers’ fun
According to the revelations made in the Senate (Parliament) of Pakistan, the UAE government is currently only ‘Blue Passport’ And ‘Diplomatic Passport’ Is giving visa only to those people.
Now you will ask what is this blue passport? Actually, in Pakistan, government officials and influential people get blue passports, while the general public has green passports. That is, if there is a big leader or officer then he will get entry, but if any common citizen wants to go there to roam or look for a job, then the doors are closed for him.
2. Why is UAE angry? (real reason)
The reason behind this given by Parliament’s Human Rights Committee Chairperson Samina Mumtaz Zahari is a matter of embarrassment for Pakistan. He says that UAE is worried that many people coming from Pakistan are going there and getting involved in wrongdoings.
Reports suggest that Pakistanis who have gone on tourist visa either start begging there or get caught in petty theft and criminal activities. This is the reason why visa applications of common people are now being rejected or put on hold.
3. “I got a visa with great difficulty”
The official said that in recent times, after a lot of hard work, a few visas have been approved. However, UAE has also said that they are making their visa system online and modern. Now the passport will not be stamped, but an e-Visa will be available. It has also been said that 500 visas will be processed daily in a new centre, but the reality on the ground is that Pakistani citizens are still facing strictures.
4. The back of the economy will break
Millions of people of Pakistan work in UAE and send remittances to their country from there, which provides support to Pakistan’s faltering economy. If this strictness on visa continues for a long time, not only will unemployment increase, but Pakistan’s foreign earnings will also be deeply affected.
