While the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025 shook India, Pakistan has once again shared. On the one hand, Pakistan has formally condemned the attack, on the other hand its Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has addressed the attackers as freedom fighters. After this attack, India has taken strict action against Pakistan. The biggest decision among them was to suspend the Indus Water Treaty of 1960.
Pakistan’s double attitude on Pahalgam attack
India took this action in response to Islamabad’s incarnate policy on terrorism. Along with this, India canceled all the visas issued to Pakistani citizens and also announced the closure of the attic border. The Pakistani government has reacted to this. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said, “24 crore Pakistani citizens need water. India cannot do this. It will be considered a direct war.” Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) has also described India’s decision as a war -like step.
Pakistan’s stagnant stance on terrorism despite global pressure
TRF has taken responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. Which is said to be a mask organization of banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. This is the same organization that is supported by ISI. However, Pakistan tries to avoid its responsibility by describing terrorists as different from themselves. Pakistan’s attempt to gather support from all over the world in the name of fighting terrorism has been exposed by its leader’s statement about “freedom fighters”.
Pakistan threatened India for its aggressive stand
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khwaja Mohammad Asif also threatened India. He said, “If India harms our citizens. Then Indian citizens will not be safe. It will be a conflict for conflict.” This statement has come in response to diplomatic and political decisions taken by India. These include expelling Pakistani High Commission officials, reducing the number of embassy employees and limiting separate bilateral dialogue.
