Five days after the death of 26 innocent people in the Pahalgam terror attack, Pakistan on 27 April allegedly laid a red carpet for the top officials of a cryptocurrency company owned by US President Donald Trump’s family.
Recently, a delegation of top officials of an American company called World Liberty Financial (WLF) visited Pakistan. The company serves as a decentralized finance platform and the Trump family has more than 60 percent stake in it. Members of this delegation include Zachri Faukman, Chase Harrow and Zachri Witchoff. During this visit to Pakistan, the delegation signed a letter letter with the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC). The purpose of this intent is to make efforts to increase the use of blockchain in Pakistan. According to reports published in Pakistani news media, WLF is operated by members of the delegation and also met Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Ashim Munir during his visit to Pakistan.
After signing this intent letter, a press release issued by the PCC stated that through this agreement, an attempt would be made to bring new innovation related to blockchain in Pakistan, increase the use of stable coins and create a structure for decentralized finance integration across Pakistan. The PCC also claimed that this agreement would help Pakistan a lot of emergence in the digital finance revolution as a global leader.
