Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform aarti at Ramanathswamy Temple in Rameswaram on 6 April on the occasion of Ram Navami. PM Modi will also inaugurate the new Pamban Bridge.
The Pambon Bridge, which will be operational by April 2025, is 2.10 km long. This newly constructed bridge will connect Mandapam to Rameswaram on Pamban Island on the main road, which will increase rail connectivity in Tamil Nadu.
The Pamban Bridge will replace the old British Pamban Bridge, which has been on for more than a century. Due to the modern design of the new bridge, the 72.5 meter long portion will be lifted up, allowing the ships to pass, which will make the marine shipping easier.
