Kashipur (Uttarakhand). Once again serious questions have been raised on the khaki uniform protecting the law. In Kashipur of Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, a woman from a minority community has made very serious allegations against a policeman of luring her into a love trap and physically exploiting her, forcibly aborting her, and assaulting her. The name of the accused policeman is Arun Kumar, who is originally from Kashipur and is currently posted in Bhawali in Nainital district.
The victim is constantly making rounds of the police station and top police officials for justice, but due to the accused’s connection with the police department, clouds of doubt are looming over the investigation and action.
Main points and allegations of the case
Love trap, temple marriage and then turning away: The victim alleges that policeman Arun Kumar first lured her into his love trap and promised to marry her in the temple and give her the status of wife. But when the woman demanded to get the marriage legally registered under the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the accused became enraged and flatly refused to accept the relationship publicly.
Raped and brutally beaten after entering the flat: According to the victim, on the evening of 8 February 2026, the accused forcefully entered her flat. He dragged the woman by her hair, beat her brutally with kicks and punches and forcibly raped her. CCTV footage of this entire assault incident has also surfaced.
Forced abortion and death threats: The woman also alleges that the accused not only physically and mentally exploited her, but also forcibly aborted her. Now the accused and his father (especially Arun Kumar’s father) are threatening to kill the victim.
Cases have been registered earlier also, still the police are empty handed
The most surprising thing in this case is that this is not the first controversy of the accused policeman.
Lawsuit of the year 2025: The victim had also filed a case against the accused in the year 2025, but the accused had taken anticipatory bail from the Uttarakhand High Court.
Nainital hotel controversy: Earlier, on January 6, 2026, an incident of assault had also come to light in a private hotel in Nainital, for which a complaint was lodged.
The accused was continuously pressurizing the victim to withdraw the old cases.
Questions are being raised on the role of police
The working style of the police in this entire incident is under question. After visiting the police station several times and appealing to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), a new case has been registered in Kashipur Kotwali, but the accused has not been arrested yet. Even when asked questions by the media, police officers seem to be avoiding giving clear answers.
