Political mercury high in Jharkhand, winter session of assembly will start from December 5

News India Live, Digital Desk: The stir in the political circles of Jharkhand has intensified as the Hemant Soren government has announced the dates of the winter session of the Assembly. This important session will start from 5th December and will continue till 11th December. This decision was finalized in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday. There are full chances of this five-day session to be a stormy one, because on one hand the government would like to complete its legislative agenda, while on the other hand the opposition has also geared up to corner the government.

What will be special in the session?

The government has many important tasks before it in this short session. The most important agenda will be to present the second supplementary budget for the financial year 2025-26 and get it passed by the House. Apart from this, the government is also preparing to bring many new bills. A total of 18 proposals were approved in the recently held cabinet meeting, bills related to which can be introduced in this session.

Some major decisions of the cabinet that may come in the session:

• ‘Mangur’ will become the state fish: A proposal to give the status of state fish to the indigenous ‘Clarias Mangur’ fish will be brought in the House, so that its production and conservation can be promoted.
• New criminal laws: The approval of the House can also be taken on making model rules to effectively implement the three new criminal laws implemented by the Center in the state.
• new hiring: There may also be a proposal to amend the rules for recruitment to posts like Wireless Sub-Inspector in India Reserve Battalion.

Preparations to siege the opposition

The opposition parties, especially BJP, are not going to let the government rest in peace in this session. The opposition has many burning issues like law and order situation, corruption and unemployment on which they will seek answers from the government. It is believed that the opposition may try to disrupt the proceedings of the House by raising these issues loudly, due to which a heated debate may be seen between the ruling party and the opposition.

Now it will be interesting to see how the government is able to complete its financial and legislative work amid the uproar from the opposition. This session will be no less than a litmus test for the Hemant Soren government.
