News India Live, Digital Desk: The long fight for justice for Indian Army officer Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit has reached a happy end. After going through a long process of court proceedings and allegations in the Malegaon bomb blast case, the Army has promoted him to the rank of ‘Brigadier’. This decision has come after Purohit was recently acquitted of serious charges, after which the ‘waiting’ pause in his career has now ended.

Victory of justice and confidence of the army

Prasad Purohit was facing legal and departmental challenges for the last one and a half decade. After his name appeared in the Malegaon blast case, he remained in jail for a long time and was also suspended. However, he was given a major relief by the court considering the lack of evidence and other technical aspects of the case. Now, keeping in mind his seniority and service record, the Army has promoted him to the post of Brigadier, which is no less than a big achievement for him.

There was a ‘break’ of 16 years in career.

While holding the post of Lieutenant Colonel, the promotion of Purohit, who was surrounded by controversies, was banned for many years. As per military rules, promotions are put on hold pending any disciplinary or court action. After the acquittal, Purohit had demanded his rights, which was given the green signal by the Defense Ministry and the Army Headquarters. With this promotion, he has now joined the front line of military leadership.

What was the whole matter?

Prasad Purohit was made one of the main accused in the 2008 bomb blasts in Malegaon, Maharashtra. There were serious allegations against him of involvement in terrorist activities. After a lengthy legal process, special courts found that many of the charges against him could not be proven. Now his new innings as Brigadier is being seen as a restoration of justice for his supporters and family.
