Uttar Pradesh is no longer going to be just a center of agriculture or politics, but it is rapidly moving towards becoming the new ‘tech hub’ of India. The news is big – State IT Minister Sunil Kumar Sharma has made it clear that the big project that HCL and Foxconn are jointly setting up in UP will start working by 2027-28.
In the ‘UP Tech Next’ summit held in Lucknow on Monday, the Minister has given open confidence to the investors.
Government said- You set up a factory, we will give 60% help
What would be better for investors than the government itself coming forward and taking the lead. Minister Sharma said that land has already been given for this project. The biggest thing is that the government is giving 60% of the cost of this project as capital subsidy. Also, there will be no shortage of electricity and water 24 hours a day to run the factory.
“Mafia rule is over, now there is product rule”
The minister said a very interesting and powerful thing regarding changing the image of UP. He said, “There was a time (2002 to 2017) when investors were scared just by hearing the name of UP because the law and order situation here was poor. Then ‘one district-one mafia’ was prevalent. But today the atmosphere has changed, now the Yogi government has the identity of ‘one district-one product’.”
Simply put, now no businessman or company has any fear of Gundaraj, investors are completely safe under Yogi Raj.
The dream is big: the race to overtake Taiwan
The world knows that today Taiwan is at the forefront in the field of electronic chips. But the morale of the UP government is high. Sunil Sharma said that even though today we are behind Taiwan, our aim is to overtake them in the future. For this, ‘Electronics Clusters’ are being formed at various places in UP so that we do not have to import goods from outside and we can become self-reliant.
Eye is also on Apple
The good news is not limited to this only. The UP government has opened the doors for the world’s biggest tech companies. The minister said that his talks are not limited to HCL only, but companies like Apple have also been invited to come to UP. Apart from this, another big project (Tark Semiconductor) worth Rs 27,000 crore is also in the line, which is just waiting for the Centre’s green signal.
Overall, UP is now in full ‘tech-mode’ to achieve its target of 1 trillion dollar economy.
