The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially sounded the poll bugle for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, announcing a statewide door-to-door outreach campaign set to commence on September 20. Unveiling the grassroots mobilisation plan at a press conference in Chandigarh, AAP senior leader and Punjab affairs in-charge Manish Sisodia stated that over 2.68 lakh booth committee members will fan out across the state to present the four-and-a-half-year report card of the Bhagwant Mann administration directly to voters.
Grassroots Mobilisation Across 25,332 Booths
Flanked by Punjab AAP State President Aman Arora and Working President Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi, Sisodia outlined the scale of the campaign. Exactly 2,68,553 booth committee members, along with the party’s youth, women, and SC wings, will cover all 25,332 polling booths in Punjab. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will kick off the drive from his home constituency of Dhuri, preceded by the official unveiling of the party’s election campaign pamphlet and a concurrent membership drive in Ludhiana.
Highlighting Welfare Guarantees and Direct Financial Benefits
Sisodia asserted that the Mann administration had surpassed its 2022 electoral commitments, accomplishing more in four and a half years than past regimes did in decades. Pointing to free electricity, round-the-clock canal irrigation, education upgrades in state-run schools, fee regulation for private institutions, and youth employment, Sisodia claimed these fulfilled guarantees provide an average monthly household saving of ₹15,000, translating to an annual direct benefit of ₹1.82 lakh per family. Party workers will distribute detailed literature documenting these figures to contrast the current regime against previous administrations.
Countering Opposition and the Battle Over the Drug Menace
The mega outreach coincides with heightened political activity across the border state, notably clashing with the BJP’s ongoing 4,000-km ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’. Sisodia launched a fierce counter-attack against opposition parties, questioning the BJP’s moral standing to lead anti-drug campaigns after its decade-long coalition governance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) between 2007 and 2017. He also took aim at the subsequent 2017–2022 Congress tenure, accusing both legacy parties of pushing Punjab into fiscal distress and rampant narcotics supply chains, while reiterating that the state’s electorate is seeking continuity under Bhagwant Mann.
