News India Live, Digital Desk: The ‘legal tussle’ that has been going on in Jharkhand for some time has now reached a new turning point. We all know that the bitterness between the Central investigating agencies (like ED) and the State Governments is often in the news, but what happened in Ranchi has itself shocked the Hon. Jharkhand High Court Surprised even.
Actually, the matter is related to the police raid on the ED office. While hearing this, the High Court has made such a comment, knowing which you will also be left wondering.
What did the court say? (Pre-planned at first glance)
The High Court clearly said that this raid by Ranchi Police was prima facie ‘Pre-planned’ Is visible. The court’s point was that the haste and manner in which the police conducted the raid did not seem to be part of a routine investigation, rather it seemed as if its script had already been written.
Where did the matter start?
You will remember that some time ago there was a lot of uproar in the state regarding the arrest of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the investigation by ED. Meanwhile, an FIR was lodged against some ED officials under the SC/ST Act. On this basis, Ranchi Police suddenly reached the regional office of ED to investigate.
What is the surprise?
The court observed that the speed with which the police took action and the manner in which the entire operation was carried out seemed less like a fair investigation and more like a specific intention. The High Court has given a big relief to those ED officers against whom this whole case was going on.
Struggle for power or adherence to law?
It is generally believed that the agencies should do their work and the police should do theirs, but when both come face to face and the court has to say, “Brother, this seems to be already decided,” then the trust of the general public starts to waver. This case has once again fueled the war of politics versus agency in Jharkhand.
our vision
The fight over the law has its place, but when constitutional institutions reach such a stage of ‘interfering’ in each other’s work, the matter does not remain only for the court. This strict comment of the High Court is no less than a big blow for the Ranchi Police. Now it remains to be seen what clarification the police gives on this.
How do you see this whole tussle? Do you think that the agencies are really facing difficulties in doing their work, or is the state government using its powers properly? Please let us know in the comments.
