Large gift to Ranchi: Ratu Road Elevated Corridor will be inaugurated on July 3, cost of 400 crores

Ranchi. Ratu Road Elevated Corridor, which has been long -awaited and relieved from traffic jams in the capital Ranchi, will now be inaugurated on July 3. It was earlier inaugurated on June 19, but the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced a new date by postponing it due to technical and other reasons. This new date has been confirmed in the order issued from the office of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday.

The 3.57 km long elevated corridor on NH-75 is built with a total of 101 pillars, from Nagababa Khatal to Hehal Post Office and Piska Mor to Itki Road. The construction work, which started in November 2022, was delayed by about four months due to some technical problems and delay in land acquisition. The total cost of this ambitious project has been stated to be Rs 400 crore. With the completion of this flyover, millions of people coming and going from areas like Harmu Road, Pandra, Mandar, Gumla will get rid of heavy traffic jams.

There is also a plan to beautiful the area below the construction of this flyover, including beautification, street lighting arrangements, plantation and development of playgrounds. This will not only increase the ease of traffic, but will also increase the beauty and utility of the region. The most important thing is that with the commissioning of this flyover, the journey from the court to Pandra will be completed in only four minutes, which will bring an unprecedented change in the traffic system of Ranchi.

This is a joint project of the Government of Jharkhand and the Union Ministry of Road Transport, which is considered an important achievement for Ranchi residents. This flyover will not only save people’s precious time, but will also play an important role in reducing fuel consumption and air pollution. The government maintained continuous coordination with all the concerned departments and stakeholders to complete the project on time. Senior officers and public representatives of the Central and State Government are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony.

The debate on the naming of the flyover:

Meanwhile, political parties and social organizations are making their demands regarding the name of the flyover. The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress have strongly advocated the name of this flyover after “Dishom Guru” Shibu Soren. JMM spokesperson Vinod Pandey and Congress MLA Rajesh Kachhap believe that it will be a suitable step to honor Shibu Soren’s significant contribution in the Jharkhand movement, which will not only honor them but will also represent 3.5 crore people’s sentiments.

At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded to name this flyover after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Ranchi MLA CP Singh has said that this flyover built under the central scheme should be named under a fixed process and should not allow politics to dominate it.

Along with many social organizations, Himanshu Kumar, who was associated with the Jharkhand movement, has also raised the demand to name the flyover in the name of Vinod Bihari Mahato. In this sequence, former AJSU party MLA Dr. Lumbodar Mahato has written a letter to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari saying that Vinod Bihari Mahato had encouraged the identity of Jharkhand and the spirit of ‘read and fight’, so it would be very appropriate to name the flyover after his name.
