The Reserve Bank of India is running an awareness campaign named “RBI Kehta Hai” to create awareness among the common citizens of the country. Under this campaign, RBI keeps sending messages on WhatsApp to make the bank account holders of the country aware.
Meanwhile, voicemails are coming in the name of RBI on people’s mobile phones. In these voicemails, people are being warned that their bank account will be blocked. The voicemail states that your credit card has been used for fraud, due to which your bank account will be blocked.
RBI never asks for confidential information from account holders
If you also receive such voicemails, WhatsApp messages, phone calls or emails in the name of RBI, then you should be very careful. Actually, these fake voicemails are being sent in the name of RBI and are part of a scam.
PIB Fact Check has taken cognizance of this entire matter and has appealed to the common people of the country to be cautious of such voicemails, WhatsApp messages, phone calls or emails. PIB Fact Check in a post on X said that this is a new scam.
Reserve Bank of India does not send any such voicemail. RBI only sends messages to make people aware and does not ask for any specific information from you. It is noteworthy that despite the efforts of RBI, government and banks, cases of cyber fraud are increasing rapidly in the country.
Increase in digital fraud cases from July 2025
Now not only common people but also educated officials and big companies are facing cyber fraud. You will be surprised to know that now people are being defrauded of crores of rupees through cyber fraud and this is very worrying. RBI Deputy Governor T. Ravi Shankar had recently said that cases of digital fraud will once again start increasing from July 2025.
