In an exciting IPL match, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have set a mountain -like target of 206 runs to win in front of Punjab Kings (PBKS). In this match played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, Punjab Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first, but the RCB batsmen pushed them to the backfoot on their own.
The start of the innings for RCB was nothing special when captain Faf du Plessis and Silver Patidar returned to the pavilion cheaply. Both Kagiso Rabada made their victims, due to which RCB was struggling by losing 2 wickets for 39 runs at one time.
However, after this, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell handled the innings. Both these veteran batsmen together strengthened the team. Virat Kohli scored a brilliant 43 runs (24 balls, 2 fours, 4 sixes), while Glenn Maxwell scored 32 runs (3 fours, 1 six) in 27 balls. They together brought the team’s score to a respectable position.
Even after Maxwell was dismissed, Kohli stood at one end and gave momentum to the innings. But the real storm came in the final overs of the innings. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik performed his explosive batting. Karthik scored an unbeaten 66 in just 24 balls with the help of 5 magnificent sixes and 3 fours. His strike rate was incredibly 275. Shahrukh Ahmed also hit some important fours in the end.
Royal Challengers Bangalore scored a huge score of 205 runs in the prescribed 20 overs thanks to Karthik’s stormy innings. Now it is a tough challenge to Punjab Kings how they achieve the target of 206 runs. RCB batsmen proved why they are called ‘explosives’.
