Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a joint press conference at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. Meanwhile, the leaders of both the countries have discussed many important issues. Prime Minister Modi said that India and Indonesia have agreed to increase cooperation in the defense sector.
Many issues were discussed between the two leaders
With this, both the countries will now work together in defense manufacturing and supply chain. He called for special attention to maritime security, cyber security, counter-terrorism efforts and counter-radicalisation. Apart from this, both the countries also discussed improving bilateral trade and exploring new business opportunities.
PM Modi has taken the initiative to share the successful implementation of India’s Public Distribution System (PDS) and Midday Meal Scheme. In this conversation, it has also been decided to organize a joint study of disaster management groups between the two countries.
Expressed happiness on becoming the chief guest of Republic Day
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed happiness at being the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations. He said, it is a matter of great honor for me. Sukarno, the first President of Indonesia, was the chief guest at India’s first Republic Day celebrations. Along with this, he said that for the first time an Indonesian military unit has taken part in the parade outside the country.
India helped in the freedom struggle
President Prabowo Subianto thanked India for its help in Indonesia’s struggle for independence. He also said that the Indian Embassy land in Indonesia was gifted to India. At that time other countries did not recognize Indonesia. He also thanked India for supporting Indonesia’s permanent membership in BRICS and being the voice of the Global South.
India was a co-founder of the Non-Aligned Movement at the Bandung Conference in 1958 and since then India has played an active role in promoting South-South cooperation and becoming the voice of the Global South.
