Return of 25 Indian soldiers posted on duty in Maldives, was Muizzu's plan successful?

The process of withdrawal of Indian soldiers serving in Maldives has started. In this regard, Maldivian media claimed that the Indian soldiers operating the aircraft have been withdrawn. According to the report of Maldivian newspaper Miharu, 25 Indian soldiers deployed at Addu Airport have left the island before March 10.

President Muizzu came to power in September last year promising to remove Indian troops guarding the maritime border in Maldives. It is noteworthy that Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu had launched India Out campaign before and after the elections. Since Muizzu has been a supporter of China, his government ministers have been making anti-India statements to please China.

Muizzu had set a deadline of March 15 to remove Indian troops serving in Maldives. After becoming President, he visited China. After that a Chinese ship came to Maldives. A small contingent of the Indian Army was deployed in the Indian Ocean with reconnaissance aircraft in the Maldives. According to a report, there are about 88 Indian soldiers in Maldives.

One Dornier aircraft and two helicopters of the Indian Navy are deployed in Maldives to transport patients from around 200 islands to hospitals. Additionally, Indian aircraft monitor illegal fishing activities in the Maldives' economic zone. Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has also confirmed the withdrawal of Indian troops, although neither Maldivian or Indian officials have given any official information regarding this.
