News India Live, Digital Desk: Our biggest power in democracy is our ‘vote’. But do you know that many times many people are not able to vote simply because at the last moment their name is found deleted from the voter list? An important beginning is being made from today to remove such irregularities and streamline the election process in Uttar Pradesh.
What is the matter after all?
Today the notice of ‘Draft Voter List’ is being issued by the Uttar Pradesh Election Commission. This simply means that the administration has prepared a list based on the current data, in which it has been told who is eligible to vote. But, this is not the final list. There is still scope for change in this.
There is a wait of seven days and then the decision will be taken
One important thing that you should know in this whole process is the 7 day rule. Today, exactly 7 days after the release of the notice, you will be able to apply for your objections or corrections. That means, if your name is wrongly written in the list, there is a mistake in your age or your address has changed, then you will have a strong chance to correct it.
Special news for new voters
If you have recently turned 18 or are preparing to vote for the first time, then this time is most important for you. You can get your name added to this new list. Keep in mind, people often think that it will be seen when the elections come closer, but the real work happens right now.
What can you do?
From today itself, you can get information about this list by visiting the BLO or Tehsil office of your area. This is a digital era, so you can also check your name online by visiting the Election Commission website.
A little suggestion:
Check not only your name but also the names of other members of your family. Often a notice board is put up at a booth in the locality where this information is shared. Being a little alert can save you from last minute rushing.
