News India Live, Digital Desk: River rejuvenation: At one time the river which was a symbol of faith and life, today it has lost its identity and has transformed into a ‘dirty drain’ from the chemical of factories and the garbage of the city. We are talking about Hindon River in Uttar Pradesh, which leaves Saharanpur and joins Yamuna via Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar.

But now preparations are being made to revive this ‘dead’ river once again. The Yogi government has approved a major plan for revival and rejuvenation of Hindon River under the ‘Namami Gange’ program. Nearly on this great conclusion 360 crores Spending will be spent, which will not only give new life to the river, but the picture of 38 villages situated on its banks will also change completely.

What is the government’s plan?

The main objective of this project is to make Hindon and its tributaries- Krishna and Kali pollution free and return their old pride. Many big works will be done under this scheme:

  1. Cleaning of river: The silt and dirt stored at the bottom of the river will be cleaned with machines.

  2. Construction and beautification of ghats: Beautiful ghats will be built on the banks of the river, where people will be able to perform religious rituals and spend time with the family.

  3. Riverfront Development: The banks of the river will be developed as the center of tourism. There will be parks, walking tracks and beautiful seating arrangements here.

  4. Pollution banned: Strict steps will be taken to stop the chemical of dirty drains and factories falling into the river.

38 villages of Shamli will get the most benefit

The most benefit of this entire project will be available to those 38 villages in Shamli district which are settled on the banks of Hindon River. Till now the people of these villages were troubled by the pollution and smell of the river. But now the atmosphere here will change completely.

  • Cleaning the river will improve the level of ground water and cultivation will benefit.

  • Increasing tourism will create new employment opportunities for the local people.

  • The price of the land of the villages will increase and they will have economic development.

This project is not just a campaign to save a river, but it is a new ray of expectation to bring a positive change in the lives of millions of people, whose life is connected to this river in some form or the other.
