News India Live, Digital Desk: Nato in Turmoil: The biggest and worrying news has been revealed so far between the Russia-Ukraine War. NATO member country Poland has claimed that several Russian drones entered its airspace during the attack on Ukraine. In response to this infiltration, Poland has taken a tough step not only to kill those drones, but has also closed 4 major airports including its capital Warsaw.
This incident has brought tension to the peak throughout Europe as this is the first time a member country of NATO has directly taken such action against Russian military property.
What did Poland say?
The Poland army has issued a statement saying that this infiltration is “open violation of the sovereignty of the country”. Confirming this action on social media, Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote, “The army has used weapons against the objects (drones) violating the airspace of Poland.”
The incident occurred when Russia was attacking the western areas of neighboring Ukraine, which is very close to the Poland border, attacking with a large -scale drone and missile. According to Poland, he tracked more than a dozen such items that felt the danger and were “neutralized”.
Big steps taken for security
In view of this critical situation, Poland immediately activated its aerial security system and also put NATO on alert. As a precaution, it was decided to close four major airports:
- Warsaw Chopin Airport (Capital)
- Warsaw modelin airport
- Reszo-Jesionaka Airport (A large center for helping Ukraine)
- Lubelsky Airport
These airports have been closed due to “undeclared military activity”, so that any kind of danger can be avoided.
Why is this incident very serious?
Poland is a member of NATO. According to the NATO rule, the attack on any one member country is considered an attack on the entire alliance. However, it is not clear whether Russia did this intentionally or mistakenly, but the Russian drone in the NATO region pose a danger of further provoking of war.
Many countries of the world including America are closely monitoring this incident. US officials have described it as an attempt by Vladimir Putin to take the “examination” of NATO’s unity and resolution. This incident has raised the question whether this war is now going to go out of Ukraine’s boundaries to NATO countries?
