Death And Birth Certificate 1737

The man who attacked actor Saif Ali Khan has been identified as a Bangladeshi national who entered India illegally. After this incident, the Maharashtra government has taken a strict stance against infiltrators and started a campaign across the state. The government says it is extremely important to stop Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltration.

Ban on birth and death certificates

Taking a big step in this regard, the Maharashtra government has banned the issuance of birth and death certificates in cases one year or more old. Earlier, in these cases, certificates were issued after investigation by the local authorities, but now strictness is being taken on this. This ban will remain in force in almost all the districts of the state for at least the next 6 months.

Statistics of Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators

Former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya claimed that 4318 Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators have settled illegally in Malegaon, 4537 in Amravati, and around 15,000 in Akola. He alleged that these people have birth certificates made from fake documents.

Formation of SIT for investigation

The Home Ministry has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate these serious allegations. This team will investigate all the cases in depth and submit its report within six months. On the basis of the report itself, the decision to lift the ban on birth and death certificates will be taken.

misuse of fake documents

Some officials said that there is no problem in issuing certificates in cases of recent death or birth. But in old cases, incidents of getting certificates made through fake documents have come to light. These certificates are often used for illegal activities.

possibility of strict rules

The government has taken this step immediately to deal with this problem. Besides, a plan to further tighten the rules for making birth and death certificates is also being considered. Especially a separate system can be made to investigate old cases.

Misuse of change in rules

By 2023, judicial inquiry was required to issue certificates in cases one year old or older. But the Central Government changed the rules and gave the District Collector and SDM the right to issue certificates after investigation. Officials say that this exemption has been misused in many areas. Especially in Muslim dominated areas like Malegaon and Amravati, cases of making certificates using fake documents have come to light.

This initiative of the Maharashtra government aims to stop illegal infiltration into the state and end the misuse of fake documents. In the coming time, the process of changing the rules may prove important in this direction.
