News India Live, Digital Desk: ‘Power game’ is often seen in Karnataka politics, but this time the matter is different. Have you ever wondered that when a Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister are present in a state, can an outsider come and preside over the government meetings?
This is the question on which a heated war of words has started between BJP and Congress these days. Actually, the whole controversy started with Congress National General Secretary K.C. Venugopal’s visit to Bengaluru. BJP has directly alleged that Siddaramaiah is definitely the Chief Minister in Karnataka, but behind the scenes the government is under K.C. Venugopal is running. BJP has given him the status of ‘Super CM’.
What is the matter?
Senior BJP leaders say that Venugopal held a regular meeting with the ministers and officials of the Karnataka government. Now from a constitutional point of view, Venugopal is neither an MLA of Karnataka nor a part of the government there. He is just an official of the Congress Party. In such a situation, it was natural to raise questions on his interference in government work.
Karnataka state president of BJP and other leaders shared the photo on social media and asked, “Has the Karnataka administration now become a puppet in the hands of Delhi?” He claims that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. To suppress the rift between Shivkumar, the high command has appointed one of its own ‘supervisor’.
Questions arising among the general public
The government of any state is accountable to the people. When a face who has not been elected by the public starts leading the meetings, people also start considering it as ‘Delhi’s interference’. There is a discussion in the political circles that Congress is keeping an eye on the roadmap of 2024 through Karnataka, but due to this the administrative structure is getting weakened.
BJP’s tough stance
BJP does not want to let this opportunity go. He says that this is not only an insult to the people of Karnataka but also hurts the dignity of a democracy where the Chief Minister is supreme. On the other hand, Congress has clarified that Venugopal was only reviewing electoral guarantees and the functioning of the party, it has nothing to do with government orders.
Now whatever may be the reality, this phrase ‘Super Chief Minister’ is becoming very viral on social media. It will be interesting to see how the Siddaramaiah government calms this growing controversy.
