Satya Nadella was born in 1967 in Hyderabad, Telangana (then Andhra Pradesh). His father was an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and his mother was a Sanskrit professor. Satya completed her schooling from Hyderabad Public School. It was here that he developed his interest in computer science and cricket.
Higher education and early career:
He chose India’s prestigious Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) for graduation, from where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1988. He moved to America for higher education. He received a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from Visconsin-Milvauki University and later also did MBA from Chicago Booth School of Business. Before joining Microsoft, Satya used to work in Sun Microsystems.

In 1992, Satya Nadella entered Microsoft. Here he progressed rapidly. He was among several important divisions, including Cloud and Enterprise Group and Microsoft Business Solutions. His contribution to the field of cloud computing brought the company to new heights.
