News India Live, Digital Desk: Former captain of the Indian cricket team and former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has expressed surprise and displeasure over Mohammed Shami not being included in the team for the important Test series against Australia. Ganguly raised questions on this decision of the selectors and said that he could not understand any reason for keeping Shami out.
This matter is related to the team selection for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be held between India and Australia. Recently, when the Test team was announced, the name of experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami was not there, which surprised many cricket experts and fans.
“You can’t keep your best bowlers out”
Sourav Ganguly criticized this decision saying, “I don’t see any reason to keep Mohammed Shami out of the team. If you want to win matches, you have to play your best bowlers and Shami is definitely one of them.”
he adds, “How can he be dropped from the Test team after his performance in the ODI World Cup? It is beyond my understanding.”
Let us tell you that Mohammed Shami was away from cricket for a long time due to ankle injury, for which he had to undergo surgery. He has recently returned to the field from the white ball series against Sri Lanka. However, Ganguly believes that if Shami is fit to play, then he should have been a part of the team on such an important tour.
This decision of the selectors could be part of workload management or a strategy to gradually bring Shami back to Test cricket, but a veteran like Ganguly believes that India will need its most experienced bowler against a strong team like Australia. Shami’s performance in Australia has always been excellent and his absence can be a big blow to the team.
