State government increased pension for widows, elderly and disabled

When there is a change in state politics or elections come close, governments adopt various tactics to woo voters.

Bihar Assembly Elections:
As soon as the assembly elections in Bihar come near, the state government is continuously making several jackpot announcements.
– In a very good news for the poor and the elderly, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has given the benefit of increased pension amount to 1 crore 11 lakh people.
Under this, he has now increased the general pension amount to Rs 1100 instead of Rs 400.
– Rs 1227.27 crore has been transferred to the accounts of senior citizens through direct subsidy.
Once again, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has come forward to provide the benefit of increased pension amount to more than 1 crore people.

Social Security Pension Scheme:
– On July 11, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took a historic step under the Social Security Pension Scheme.
He transferred Rs 1227.27 crore to bank accounts of 1 crore 11 lakh beneficiaries through direct benefits transfer (DBT).
This time for the first time, the pension amount for the beneficiaries has been increased to Rs 400 instead of Rs 1100.

1100 rupees pension to widows, elderly and disabled:
– 1100 rupees have been transferred to the accounts of 1.11 crore people, giving a big gift on behalf of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the government has decided to provide assistance ranging from Rs 400 to Rs 1100 every month.
This amount has come into force from June.-
On the 10th of every month, the pension amount will be transferred to everyone’s account.
All widows, elderly and disabled will be given Rs 1100 in Bihar.

Pension Scheme:
Nitish Kumar said that with this financial assistance, crores of people above 60 years of age will get benefit. Whether they are men or women, it will be provided to all. This assistance will be given to all the disabled people above 60 years of age. All widow women will be given Rs 1100.

Amount paid under various schemes:
This amount has been distributed under six social security schemes.
– Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension (35.57 lakh),
– Laxmibai Social Security Pension (8.64 Lakh),
– Bihar Divyang Pension (9.65 Lakh),
– Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension (6.32 Lakh),
– Indira Gandhi National Divyang Pension (1.10 lakh) and
– Chief Minister Old Age Pension (49.89 lakhs).

The move is considered to be the masterstroke of the Nitish Kumar government before the Bihar assembly elections of 2025.
