On 7 April, the Indian stock market recorded a huge decline, which gave a deep blow to investors. In a few moments, the capital of about 19 lakh crore rupees was erased from the market. The main reason behind this decline was the declaration of new tariffs from the US and negative indications from the global markets.
The worst situation in this decline was the shares of Tata Group. Large shares like Tata Motors, Tata Steel, TCS and Trent saw a sharp decline.
Bad condition of Tata Group shares
The Sensex saw a decline of more than 3,000 points on Monday. The shares of Tata Group companies were a sharp decline trend:
- Tata Motors: Deall up to 10 percent, falls by 1.73% to ₹ 566.40 by 1 pm
- Tata Steel: -9.43% fall, down by ₹ 127.20
- TCS: -3.88% fall, closed at ₹ 3171.30
- Trent and other Tata Stocks also remained under this pressure
Tata Motors’s reason for a decline in shares
The US decision to impose a 25 percent tariff on imported cars has affected Tata Motors’ international trade. The company has decided to temporarily stop the export of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) brand vehicles in the US. The JLR brand consists of luxury vehicles like Jaguar, Range Rover and Defender.
The decision showed the direct impact on the company’s stock, as expensive tariffs may increase the prices of vehicles, leading to negative effects on sales in the US.
Fear in the market due to the possibility of global trade war
The possibility of tension in global trade has increased due to America’s Reciprocal Tariff Policy. The Indian market was also not untouched by this. At 9:35 am on Monday, the Sensex fell 2,381 points or 3.12% to 73,010 and the Nifty fell 816 points or 3.56% to 22,088.
