Now on Sunday, a 13 year old child was attacked by a dog in Surat. The child has suffered serious injuries in this attack. According to details received, 13-year-old Ashok Satai was going for a walk in Lodhi Garden near Jeevan Jyot area of Udhna. At the same time a stray dog suddenly attacked him. The dog bit the child’s leg badly, due to which the child started crying loudly in pain. Hearing the cry of the child, people nearby immediately reached the spot and saved the child by driving away the dog. The child who was seriously injured in the attack has been admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. Where her treatment is going on.
The extent to which dog terror is prevalent in Surat is evidenced by another incident that took place this morning. Another 8 year old child was attacked by a pack of dogs early this morning. In this attack, the child suffered more than 20 serious injuries on different parts of his body. This child is also undergoing treatment in the civil hospital.
Regarding this incident, the child’s father Satai Lodhi (originally a resident of UP), who works in a textile market, expressed grief. He is survived by two daughters and a son (Ashok). He told that his son had gone for a walk in the garden when this incident happened.
After two serious dog attacks on children in the city in 24 hours, serious questions have been raised on the functioning of Surat Municipal Corporation to control stray dogs. There is an atmosphere of fear among the citizens regarding their safety and they are demanding strict action from the Municipal Corporation.
