When Ravana had to feel embarrassed!
We all know about Ravana how arrogant he was and it was almost impossible to defeat him. But Sahasrabahu had defeated him too. According to a legend, when Ravana challenged Sahasrabahu to a battle, Sahasrabahu stopped the waters of the Narmada river with his thousand arms and submerged the entire army of Puri. Not only this, he caught Ravana and put him in jail like a small animal. Later Ravana’s grandfather left him on the recommendation of Pulastya Rishi.
A cow and Parashurama’s anger
It is said that ‘destruction is the opposite of intelligence’. Sahasrabahu became so proud of his power that he started insulting the Brahmins and sages. Once he reached the ashram of sage Jamdagni (father of Lord Parashurama) with his huge army. The sage gave royal treatment to the entire army with the help of Kamdhenu cow.
Seeing this, Sahasrabahu became greedy. He felt that this divine cow should be in a king’s palace and not in a hut. He stole that cow by force. When Parashurama came to know about this, his anger knew no bounds.
End Story: Ax vs. Thousand Hands
Parashurama picked up his ax and reached Sahasrabahu’s palace. There was a fierce battle there. Sahasrabahu attacked with his thousand arms, but none of them stood a chance against Parashurama’s divine axe. One by one Parashurama cut off his thousand arms and finally killed him.
