News India Live, Digital Desk: This news is very important for all the government pensioners of the country. If you are a retired employee of the Central or State Government and want your pension to keep coming into your bank account without any interruption in the new year, then you will have to complete a very important task by December 31, 2025. This is the work – our annual Life Certificate submit.
What is life certificate and why is it important?
Life Certificate or ‘Digital Life Certificate’ is proof that the person receiving pension is alive. Every year all pensioners have to submit this certificate to their bank, post office or pension disbursing agency to confirm that the pension is being given to the right person. If you do not submit this certificate on time, the pension giving institution can stop your pension.
When to submit the certificate?
Generally, life certificate has to be submitted between 1st November and 30th November every year. However, for senior citizens aged 80 years and above, this process starts from October 1 itself so that they do not have to face the crowd. Many times the government extends this date, but it is better that you do not wait for the last date.
What if deposit is not made by 31st December?
If you have not submitted your life certificate by the due date, you can contact the delivery agency. Can be prevented by form. Pension Pension period will start when you submit the certificate. In this you will also get the money of long term pending pension i.e. arrears, but this whole process may cause delay and trouble of unemployment.
How to submit your life certificate? Now it is not necessary to go to the bank!
In this era of technology, you no longer need to stand in long queues to submit life certificate. The government has provided several easy methods for this:
- Jeevan Pramaan Portal: This is the easiest online method. You can generate your digital life certificate at home using a biometric device (fingerprint scanner), through the jeevanpramaan.gov.in website or the ‘Jeevan Praman’ app.
- Doorstep Banking: 12 government banks and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) provide the facility of submitting life certificate at home. You can pay a nominal fee and call a bank employee at your home, who will help you complete the process.
- Post Office or Common Service Center (CSC): You can also go to your nearest post office or CSC center and get your biometric verification done and submit the certificate.
- By going to the bank (Offline Method): If you are not comfortable with technology, you can still go to your pension bank branch and fill the form as before and submit your life certificate.
Choose any method as per your convenience, but do complete this important work before 31st December so that your hard-earned money, i.e. your pension, continues to reach you without any hindrance.
