Washington: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is on a four-day visit to the US, has claimed that the results of this Lok Sabha election have destroyed the 'Modi ideology' and the 'fear' created by him in India has now become history. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha addressed the prestigious Georgetown University in Washington DC and Herndon University in Virginia. Along with targeting the RSS and the BJP, the Congress leader also raised issues such as when will reservation be removed from India, bias in Lok Sabha elections, freedom of other religions including Sikhism.
Speaking to students at Georgetown University in the US, Rahul Gandhi said that there is a fight going on in India over whether a Sikh can wear a turban, whether he has the right to wear a bracelet or whether he can go to a gurudwara. Not only this, it is a big question whether people of other religions can practice their religion freely or not.
He said that before the elections, the institutions of the country were taken over. We kept saying that the RSS has taken over the education system, media and investigative bodies. But people did not understand. Then we stressed that they are trying to change the Constitution. Then people realized that if the Constitution is destroyed, everything will be destroyed.
Referring to the Lok Sabha election results, Rahul said that after the results of this election, the fear created by Modi ji across the country has ended in a short time. It takes years to create fear in people. But a few moments are enough to destroy it. I can tell you that the idea of Modi, 56 inch chest, direct contact with God, all this is history now. The ruling coalition in India can break anytime.
In response to the question whether he has hatred towards the Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi said that he has no hatred towards PM Narendra Modi. On the contrary, one often sympathizes with him. Many times I wake up in the morning and think that he has an opinion on something. My opinion is somewhat different. I do not agree with him, but I do not hate him either. I do not see any reason for any competition like Rahul Gandhi vs Narendra Modi.
He said that the Lok Sabha elections in India were not fair. If this election had been fair, BJP would not have got even 246 seats. I do not consider the elections held in India to be fair.
– When there is fairness in India, we will consider ending reservation: Rahul
Washington: When the leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi was asked in Lok Sabha how long reservation will continue in India, he said that when there is fairness in the country, then Congress will think about ending reservation. At present there is no such situation in the country. If you look at the economic data, you will know that tribals get Rs 2000 every month. 10 rupees out of 100, Dalits get Rs 5 and OBCs also get almost the same. But the reality is that they are not getting participation. The problem is that 90 percent of the people in the country are not getting equal opportunities. Look at the list of every industrialist in the country, name the tribal, Dalit. One of the top 200 businessmen of the country is OBC, which is 50 percent of India.
However, taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi's statement, BJP called the Congress leader anti-reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs. BJP claimed that while addressing students at Georgetown University in America, Rahul Gandhi's anti-reservation bias came to the fore and he made a statement about removing reservation from India. BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Rahul Gandhi, who supports reservation in India, goes to America and talks about ending reservation.
– Rahul is defaming the country abroad out of frustration: Shivraj
Ranchi: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan criticized Rahul Gandhi for his statements in the US that defame the BJP government and the Election Commission and the country. Shivraj Chauhan said that Rahul Gandhi is frustrated with his continuous defeat in elections, so he is defaming India abroad. Now he is not only questioning the government but also defaming the Election Commission. Remembering Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said that when Narasimha Rao was the Prime Minister, Vajpayee was the leader of the opposition. When Atal ji represented the country abroad, he never defamed the country.
