The game of those who cast fake votes is over, this time cameras will catch ghost voters in Bihar Panchayat elections

News India Live, Digital Desk: Village politics and Panchayat elections in Bihar have their own colour. Often, in village gossips and over tea, it is discussed that “Dhimke cast the vote for Falne” or “Many people don’t even live here, yet the vote was cast.” But it seems that the Bihar government and the Election Commission have now decided to break the back of these ‘fake voters’ and ‘riggers’.

The news is coming that the government is going to adopt a tremendous technique regarding the upcoming Bihar Panchayat Elections. Now, during voting, cameras will be installed at polling booths which will not only keep an eye on the crowd but will also help in identifying fake voters.

How will ‘fraud’ be caught?
If you look at it, in old times, sometimes the same person used to cast his vote multiple times, or the vote was cast in the name of someone who is not present in the village. This time, Face Recognition Technology and cameras will be used in the elections in such a way that if someone tries to vote again, the system will immediately give an alert.

The minister says that the government wants that the development of the village should be in the hands of the person who has been elected honestly by the people. News of booth looting and fake voting will now be a thing of the past. Through these cameras, every activity happening at the polling stations can be monitored directly from the headquarters.

What does this mean for the villagers?
If seen from the common man’s point of view, this is a matter of relief. Many times powerful people used to scare the real voters and take away their rightful votes. Having cameras will instill confidence among people that their vote is safe and no one else can take advantage of their name.

However, some people may see this from the point of view of privacy or “tension” in the village, but this step is considered very important for transparency. This is a clear message from the government that the first step of development, i.e. Panchayat elections, should be completely transparent and clean.
