The government file has already killed him, now why is this councilor wandering on the streets with a ‘I am alive’ board in his hand?

News India Live, Digital Desk: A similar bitter experience happened with Satish Raj, councilor of ward number 34 of Rivilganj Nagar Panchayat in Chhapra (Saran) district of Bihar. These days, Satish Raj is roaming on the doorsteps of officials and on the streets with a big poster in his hand. It is written on his poster, “I am Ward Councilor Satish Raj, Ward-34, Nagar Panchayat Rivilganj… I am still alive.”

What is the whole matter?
Actually, the work of upcoming municipal elections and renewal of voter list was going on by the Election Commission. Meanwhile, when the list was checked, “Dead” was written in front of Satish Raj’s name. That means he is no longer in this world in the government files.

The most surprising thing is that Satish Raj is the ‘sitting’ i.e. current ward councillor. The person who is participating in every government meeting, getting the work done in his area and is himself a part of the government system, was killed by the system and removed from the list.

Reality like the movie ‘Kaagaz’
You must have seen Pankaj Tripathi’s film ‘Kaagaj’, in which he struggles for years to prove himself alive. The same is happening with Satish Raj of Chapra. When he learned that he was “dead” in the government files, he termed it as gross negligence on the part of the department. He says that if this can happen to a public representative, then imagine what will be the condition of the general public?

Question on the gross negligence of the administration
This incident is not just a printing mistake but raises questions on the verification process where someone’s name was not even seen or checked before striking it. Did the workers preparing the voter list not go to homes or even ask the neighbors? Had Satish Raj’s work and his files completely disappeared from the municipality?

Councilor’s demand: Those responsible should be punished
Satish Raj is now expressing his protest in this unique way so that the eyes of the administration are opened. He has demanded that action should be taken against whoever made these wrong data entries or declared him “dead” without verification. He says that this is a fight for his reputation and existence.

Hearing this story makes one laugh and also feel sad, because the system which should be transparent often makes such serious blunders.

Your opinion?
Do the employees making government lists fill the files only while sitting on the chair? Who is responsible for this negligence? Please share your views in the comments.
