On the night of Karva Chauth, when the whole country was waiting for the moon, a sight was seen at Kanpur Central Railway Station which touched everyone’s heart. On one side, while the trains were coming and going at their speed, announcements were echoing at the station, while on the other side, a woman was celebrating this festival with her husband carrying a puja thali.

This is the story of loco pilot (train driver) Mahesh Kumar and his wife Maya, whose video of this small love story is now going viral on the internet.

After all, why did Karva Chauth have to be celebrated at the station?

Mahesh Kumar is a resident of Jhinjhak in Kanpur Dehat and lives in Kanpur only. He was on duty on the day of Karva Chauth and could not get leave. His shift was to end at 10 pm, but even after that it would be 1 am by the time he reached home.

His wife Maya had observed a waterless fast throughout the day. Seeing the delay in her husband coming home, she took a unique decision. She herself decorated the puja thali and reached Kanpur Central Station!

Husband’s face seen through a sieve on the platform

In the video going viral, it is clearly seen that amidst the hustle and bustle of the station, Maya makes her husband Mahesh Kumar stand on the platform. She first looks at the moon through the same filter and then at her husband’s face through the same filter. She performed the aarti of her husband there, touched his feet and took his blessings and then broke her fast by drinking water from his husband’s hand. To remember this beautiful moment, both of them also took a selfie.

During this time, Mahesh is seen fully ready for duty with his walkie-talkie, but he also fulfilled his duty by taking out a few moments for his wife. After completing the fast, Mahesh went back to his duty.

The husband said- ‘She came of her own free will’

Mahesh Kumar told, “I could not get leave. My wife was fasting, so she had come to the station on her own will. I had not called her.”

When this video went viral, it even reached the railway officials. NCR PRO Amit Singh said, “Loco pilot Mahesh Kumar has set an example by fulfilling his family responsibilities along with his duty.”

This small incident shows that when there is love and respect, any relationship can make its way, be it the courtyard of the house or the platform of a busy railway station.
