Jagannath Rath Yatra: King cleaned the path with a gold broom, Lord Jagannath went to aunt’s house

News India Live, Digital Desk: Jagannath Rath Yatra: Today, there is such an ocean of faith in Puri, Odisha, whose waves are reaching every corner of the world. The whole sky is echoing with the shouts of ‘Jai Jagannath’, because Mahaprabhu Jagannath has gone out on his grand chariots with his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra towards his aunt’s house, Gundicha temple.

It is not just a journey, but a vibrant festival of devotion, equality and tradition. The most beautiful and unique ritual of this journey is ‘Chhera Pahanra’.

What is the divine tradition of ‘Chhera Pahanra’?

‘Chhera Pahanra’ means cleaning with gold broom. This ritual is none other than Gajapati Maharaj of Puri himself. Before the chariots start traveling, the king takes the platform of the three chariots with gold -fed broom and fragrant water in his hands like a servant.

This tradition gives a very deep message – no one is big or small in front of God, the king is also his first servant. When the king himself sweeps the chariot of God, it becomes a symbol of equality and dedication.

Three chariots, three gods and millions of devotees

This journey consists of three huge and grand chariots:

  • Nandighosh: The chariot of Lord Jagannath, which is red and yellow in color.

  • Taldhwaj: The chariot of Lord Balabhadra, which is red and green.

  • Darpadalan (or Devdalan): The chariot of Goddess Subhadra, which is red and black in color.

Millions of devotees come to pull the ropes of these chariots, because it is believed that doing so leads to salvation. This scene is really amazing, when the power of devotion to millions of people forwards these huge chariots. This festival is celebrated not only in Odisha, but all over the world, which shows the glory of Lord Jagannath.,
