• What is special: It is from here that the real start of Diwali celebrations. On this day, buying a new pot, gold or silver in the house is considered very auspicious. This day is dedicated to Dhanvantari, the god of health. It is believed that the shopping on this day brings happiness and prosperity to the house.

Second day: Chhoti Diwali / Narak Chaturdashi (Thursday, 30 October 2025)

• What is special: It is also called ‘Chhoti Diwali’. On this day, after cleaning every corner of the house, a lamp is lit in the courtyard in the evening, which is called ‘Yama Ka Diya’. This lamp is burnt to protect the family from good health and premature death.

Third day: Diwali / Lakshmi Pujan (Friday, 31 October 2025)

• What is special: This is the main day of this festival. On this day there is noise of lamps and firecrackers. In the evening, in the auspicious time, Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, and Lord Ganesha, the god of wisdom, are worshiped. This day symbolizes the victory of good over evil and the victory of light over darkness.

Fourth day: Govardhan Puja / Annakoot (Saturday, 1 November 2025)

• What is special: On this day, the Leela of Lord Krishna is remembered when he protected the Brajwasis from Indra’s wrath by picking up the Govardhan mountain on his little finger. On this day, it is worshiped by making Govardhan mountain with cow dung in the houses and 56 types of dishes (Annakoot) are offered to God.

Fifth day: Bhai Dooj (Sunday, 2 November 2025)

• What is special: This festival is dedicated to the sacred relationship of brother and sister. On this day, sisters apply tilak on their brother’s forehead and wish for their long life and success, and the brother gives gifts to his sister and promises to protect him.
