On 21 September 2025, when people are leaving their ancestors, the solar eclipse will also take place on the same night. Although solar eclipse always seems to be on Amavasya, but it is making it a very special and sensitive opportunity on the biggest Amavasya, the biggest Amavasya dedicated to the ancestors.

Although this eclipse in India will not be seen at night, such nights are considered very important in astrology and old beliefs. It is said that during this time there are some special changes in nature which can also affect us.

What is the time of eclipse?

According to Indian time, this solar eclipse will start at around 10.59 minutes on the night of 21 September and will end at 3:30 am on 22 September. Because it will not be seen in India, its sutak period will also not be valid here. This means that you can do all the work like Shraddha and Pindadan for the ancestors during the day without any restriction.

Then why is there a matter of worry and caution?

On the night of Amavasya, our elders recommend to take some care. It is believed that negative energies are quite active on this night. Now that the eclipse is also becoming a coincidence with Amavasya, then this night becomes even more effective.

According to old beliefs, bad and unwanted powers are stronger in such times. This is the reason why astrology and elders recommend taking some special precautions on this night.

What to do tonight and what to avoid doing?

Even though the eclipse is not visible here, it is considered good to take care of some things in view of this rare coincidence:

  1. Make distance from deserted places: Tonight should be avoided to visit the cremation ghat, cemetery, ruins or any place where people usually do not go. It is believed that negative energy has the highest effect in such places.
  2. Tamasic food avoiding: On this day and night, you should stay away from meat, alcohol and any kind of intoxication.
  3. Keep the house environment calm: Try to have an atmosphere of peace in the house. Avoid talking in any kind of fighting or loud voice. To keep the mind calm, meditate on your Ishtadeva or chant a mantra.
