News India Live, Digital Desk: A verdict has been issued in a case that tears apart relationships and humanity, which can send shivers down anyone’s spine. A court in Jammu and Kashmir has sentenced a brutal father, who made his own minor daughter a victim of his lust for two years, to remain in jail till his last breath.
In delivering the verdict, the judge described the crime as a “murder of trust”. This is the story of a girl for whom her father became the biggest monster and her mother kept a blindfold on her eyes despite knowing everything.
What was this heartbreaking story?
This horrifying story came to light in 2020, when a minor girl gathered courage and lodged a police complaint against her own father. What he told the police was enough to knock the ground out from under anyone’s feet.
- Two Years of Hell: The girl said that her father, who was considered the protector of the house, had been repeatedly raping her for the last two years.
- Threat to kill: Whenever she protested or thought of telling anyone, that cruel father would silence her by threatening to kill her.
- Mother also broke her trust: The most painful aspect of this story is that the girl’s mother knew everything about this despicable act of her husband. But instead of supporting his daughter, he forced the girl to remain silent due to fear of society and public shame. The mother who was supposed to support him, became another wall for him.
This cycle of oppression stopped when the girl somehow reached her aunt’s house and, trembling, narrated her ordeal. After this, with the help of the rest of the family, the matter reached the police.
Court ordered imprisonment till last breath
Additional Sessions Judge (Udhampur) Dinesh Gupta considered the case to be very close to the “rarest of the rare” category. He said in his judgment, “For a father to do this to his own daughter is the biggest murder of faith. This crime leaves deep wounds not only on the body but also on the soul.”
The court sentenced the Kalyugi father to life imprisonment, which means he will not be able to come out of jail till his natural death. He was also fined Rs 60,000, out of which Rs 50,000 will be given to the victim for her rehabilitation.
Why was there no death penalty?
The court accepted that this crime deserved the death penalty, but did not give death sentence keeping some things in mind. The court said that the convict had no previous criminal record and was the sole earning member of the family.
This decision is a lesson for all those who commit such heinous crimes under the guise of relationships. The hand of law is very long and one day or the other every criminal gets punished for his actions.
