CBI may be investigating the fraud related to FD of Rs 64 crore 82 lakh in Uttar Pradesh Forest Corporation, but there is a strange silence from the corporation to the government. No official is ready to speak openly on this. There is talk that a committee can be formed to cover up this big matter, but the history of the Forest Corporation shows that such committees get buried in the pages of letters.

Something similar had happened earlier in the case of a corrupt officer Davinder Singh. Even then, gratification continued in the name of investigation and that officer retired comfortably. Later, after the intervention of the then Additional Chief Secretary, his retirement benefits were stopped, but by then it was too late. Till date there is no trace of the investigation committee formed in that case.

But the story does not end here. When such a huge financial scam is going on in the corporation, another game is being played behind the scenes. This is a game of alleged nexus between the corporation’s union, its president and the management.

The one who has the responsibility of stopping corruption is in the lap of the management?

The role of the union in any organization is to stop the arbitrariness of the management and to raise voice for the rights of the employees. But the allegation is that Union President Gaurav Amoli himself has become an important part of the corrupt management team in Forest Corporation. To help them, MD (Managing Director) of the corporation Arvind Kumar Singh kept all the rules and regulations aside.

Gaurav Amoli, who is just an Assistant Class-2 Babu in the clerical cadre, was kindly given the charge of a big post like Marketing Officer. There is a heated discussion inside that all this was done so that the union could keep its mouth shut on the corruption prevalent in the corporation. Sources even say that MD Arvind Kumar Singh is now preparing to make the Union President permanent (regular) on the same post and a “deal” for this has also been finalized.

When an attempt was made to get information on this matter from MD Arvind Kumar Singh, he maintained a mysterious silence. No responsible officer is ready to explain why and how a Babu was given the charge of such an important post.

When the union president himself committed fraud with the corporation

The reason for favoring Gaurav Amoli may also be his old record. It is alleged that the union president himself has committed a fraud with the corporation.

• What is the matter?:There is a scheme in the Forest Corporation under which any employee can buy wood at half rates for the construction of his house once during his entire service.
• What are the rules?:There are strict conditions for this – the wood will be used only for building a private house, its certificate will have to be given within a year, recovery will be done at market rate in case of misuse and its record will be recorded in the service book of the employee.
• What is the charge?:It is alleged that Gaurav Amoli took two cubic meters of precious wood cheaply from the corporation in the name of building a house in Uttarakhand, but brought that wood to Lucknow and sold it at high prices. He neither gave any certificate nor used the wood properly. In this way he openly made fun of the plans and rules of the corporation.

This issue was definitely raised at that time, but then it was suppressed. Now the question arises that the union president who himself is accused of betraying the corporation, on whom the MD is so kind that he is making officers out of babus, will he ever raise any questions on the scam of Rs. 64 crores? Seeing this silence and kindness, it seems that the roots of corruption are very deep in the Forest Corporation, where the protectors have become the eaters.
